Our Projects

The Project eCycle Team is made up of culturally diverse members with a goal to help not only our local community but our global community as well. Our old technology is their new technology. What we take for granted and consider obsolete is a luxury for the 3rd world. Our "Edu-furbish" program takes your old equipment and gives it a new life and role as an educational tool for children in impoverished locally and internationally. These are the current Projects that we are working on:

Currently Project eCycle has set aside approximately 200 personal computers (PC’s) and corresponding peripherals to be sent to Vietnam. We have contacted the local government and a charitable organization to get this process through. We are currently trying to fund raise to send a Project eCycle representative to oversee the actual implementation of our plans. |

The causes and symptoms of heart disease, Greek mythology, coffee growers in South America, and the world's water supply. What do all of these topics have in common? They have all been researched by teens using Project eCycle's refurbished computers. In Seattle, WA, Boys & Girls Clubs are not only offering youth safe places to learn and play, they are preparing them with the skills and knowledge to be successful in a technology-driven world. Inside the labs, youth are adding extra drum beats to their songs, creating graphs to depict Club kids' favorite games, designing websites to promote specials event, and filming documentaries on environmental sustainability. |

Project eCycle is actively working with A Foundation for Education on a laptop donation into Delhi, India. A Foundation for Education was created because a group of friends discovered Alpha Public School and wanted to help. In Delhi, India the average income is $750.00 (USD) and many families cannot afford to send their children to school. Alpha Public School charges tuition of $8.00 (USD) a month, which many cannot afford, therefore they apply for scholarships. About 40% of the students at Alpha Public School are on scholarships. |

Project eCycle has just held another e-waste collection event at Affymax, Inc. in Palo Alto, CA on Sept 12th, 2008. Many of Affymax’s employees brought in any e-waste they had from home. In addition, Affymax themselves donated several pallets of computer monitors and towers. Some of the donations will be recycled as scrap while the rest will be “touched up” and reused. |
