Currently Project eCycle has set aside approximately 200 personal computers (PC’s) and corresponding peripherals to be sent to Vietnam. We have contacted the local government and a charitable organization to get this process through. We are currently trying to fund raise to send a Project eCycle representative to oversee the actual implementation of our plans. The responsibility of our Project eCycle representative is to introduce ourselves to local officials and build trusting relationships with schools in the lower income regions of Vietnam. This representative will also oversee the delivery and installations of the PC's in their respective schools buy hiring local technicians and logistic companies. Break down of our costs goes: Cost of sending 200 PC’s, monitors and peripherals over to port of Saigon; traveling cost of Project eCycle Representative; cost of the logistic company to deliver these computers to many different regions; cost of hiring a technician to set up the PC’s; and any storage costs for computers that have not been put into use. We ask all our friends in the industry to help lend a hand. Your donations will be put to good use and you will even be able to see how your contributions has helped others. So far we have taken two trips out to Vietnam. In the first trip we contacted a local orphanage that houses many disabled children. Many of which are blind, deaf or have other disadvantages. These children and young adults have not allowed those disadvantages to stop them from living a full and happy life. At this particular orphanage, academics and music are taught. The children are inspired to reach out and learn many different aspects of life. One child in particular stood out for us; Toan, a boy born with no eyes, grew up to love and play music. He is very talented on the piano and can sing very well. He is just one of many children who have taken advantage of all the opportunities for education the orphanage has been able to offer. In our second journey to Vietnam we went back to the orphanage with eight laptops for the children. We spent the day with all the kids at the orphanage, the children who knew how to play instruments put on a show, after the show we showed the children how to use their new laptops. The laptops contained educational software such as math, spelling, typing tutor games, language learning software, etc. This way the children have a new and exciting alternative way to learn. Though they are very intelligent and inspired kids, they can use more tools to help further their education. Along with computers, new and used music instruments are very needed. We still want to give many more computers to organizations such as this one but we need your help in raising the inventory and funds to cover the logistic fees.
